About
There is a mood of mystery created by the works’ lack of contextual detail. Attempts to locate the architecture in the landscape are often impossible, and the missing human presence only adds to the sense of dislocation. Trees are suggested by shadows and fragments, while deep expanses of sky and moving cloud give the work a sense of time and transition. As we begin to wonder what lies beneath these perfect surfaces, the stillness and silence of a new world begins to leave its mark - together with the lingering sense that much has been left unspoken.
“I love the core philosophy of modernism… its idealism, simplicity and purity. I have an affinity for the geometrically simple forms and proportions of modernist architecture, and it was important for me to place these forms outside time and location. I wanted to isolate structure and remove associations with current context… to show these buildings in a new light.”
